Crowns and Bridges
Crowns and bridges are very appealing for broken or missing teeth. They provide a perfectly natural look by mimicking natural teeth because of their maximum light translucency and color. They are almost equal in strength and durability of natural teeth. A bridge is an alternative replacement for a missing tooth; unlike a partial denture, it is not removable.
Dental Implants
Nothing can take the place of a healthy set of teeth, but when disease or an accident ends in tooth loss, it's good to know you have some options in restoring your smile. Dental implants offer a look, very similar to your own teeth. They can replace one or more teeth, provide support for a partial denture, or can be used to aid the retention of a full denture. Implants are titanium anchors that are surgically placed beneath your gums. After placement, the dental implants fuse to the bone of your jaw and act as artificial tooth roots. Crowns or a bridge are then cemented to the implant. Consult with Dr. Mouravieff to see if implants are the right solution for you.
Inlays and Onlays
The advantages of ceramic inlays and onlays are many. Most importantly, they can actually strengthen the tooth. The ceramic/CEREC material can also be used where a crown was once the only option. This technique saves more natural tooth structure. The ability to 'bond' to the tooth makes this type of restoration outstanding and since no metal is used, it offers the very best in natural appearance and can be accomplished in one dental visit.
Dentures
Replacing missing teeth and getting your smile back when implants and bridges are not an option can be a difficult decision. Dr. Mouravieff is the perfect one to consult with regarding partials and dentures. He will help you find the perfect treatment plan for a partial or full denture.
A few reasons why partials and full dentures might be necessary in your treatment plan include the following:
Full upper and lower dentures
A total loss of teeth may present some very special problems and the decision as to which treatment to go with is dependent on several important factors such as:
- Extreme loss of the underlying bone
- Loss of facial tissue support
- Inability to chew food properly
- Pain or dysfunction of the jaws or joints.
Removable and Fixed Partial Dentures
The partial loss of just a few teeth may be treated by a removable partial denture rather than having a fixed bridge (non-removable). The decision as to which is preferred or necessary is dependent on several important factors such as:
- Bone support of remaining teeth
- Condition of the remaining teeth
- The way in which the teeth function
- The overall general health of the patient.
